Staff doesn't want to stay for Planning and Zoning as well as some other committee meetings, so we are considering hiring from outside to attend and do the minutes. Does anyone do that, and most importantly, what do you pay them? Thanks for the help.

We have a recording secretary for all the meetings (PC, P&R, and ZBA). She gets $50/mtg to take/type minutes. As Clerk I do the Board minutes.

My Deputy takes the Board minutes and my Administrative Assistant does Planning and ZBA. They get their hourly wage.

Terri, I know Ellen Marshall hires someone who is outside of the office.

If someone is appointed the Recording Secretary, and has a Motion
/Second recording book for votes - would it be permitted then to create Minutes from the meeting recording? MP3s can easily be transposed to a written format using a program like Jaws? or MacSpeech?
