We have a closed session on our agenda Monday, it is always the final thing on the agenda before adjournment. However, this time, we know that when Council reconvenes they will be taking some type of action. Do I need to note that on the agenda some how?

We do not notate it on our agenda. The Mayor simply makes a statement before closed session to inform the public.

    Shelly,

My Mayor makes the following statement:

The City Council will adjourn and meet in Closed Executive Session to discuss XXX, at which time this body may or may not reconvene in regular session to address additional items as necessary.

    Hope this is helpful.

At least in townships the Board has to vote unanimously to go into closed session.

I would also ask how often you do go into closed session. There are only certain specific reasons that can used closed session, and they are very few.
